Kutter Callaway is the William K. Brehm Chair of Worship, Theology, and the Arts, as well as associate dean of the Center for Advanced Theological Studies, and associate professor of theology and culture. He holds two PhDs, one in theology and the second in psychological science, both from Fuller. To learn more about studying with Dr. Callaway, check out his faculty page. Below are descriptions of some of the courses he teaches.

SF501: Foundations of Psychological Science

This course blends psychology and theology to help students understand human flourishing and develop practical skills for personal growth and Christian leadership.

TC530: Theology and Film

View and discuss selected films, providing students with the critical skills helpful for film interpretation, and explore possible theological approaches to film criticism.

TC533: Theology and TV

This course explores theology through the lens of television in Western, American culture. It equips students with analytical tools to engage with TV's impact on modern culture and develop a theology of television for effective Christian leadership in a technocultural world.

TC581: Worship, Theology, and the Arts Touchstone

This master's level course introduces students to the theological study of Christian worship, emphasizing signs, words, and gestures. It explores Augustine's philosophy and offers practical methods for exegesis. 

TC588: Engaging Independent Film

This course explores the theological impact of international independent films on postmodern storytelling, globalization, and public discourse. It analyzes the social, religious, ethical, and psychological aspects of cinema, addressing the challenges of "glocal" contexts and "spiritual-but-nonreligious" beliefs.

TC849: A Theology of General Revelation

This seminar delves into general revelation beyond the church, discussing its biblical, theological, and philosophical aspects in modern culture. It examines how this concept affects aesthetics, interfaith dialogue, and spirituality, and its potential impact on Christian theology's future.

TTC867/567: The Aesthetics of Atheism

This class explores modern atheism's historical roots and contemporary expressions. It examines the impact of atheism on contemporary culture and questions how theology can engage with atheistic aesthetics to reevaluate the church's role in the modern world.

TC860: Theology and Culture Methods

This seminar fosters a Christian perspective on cultural literacy. It helps students develop critical methods for interpreting cultural products like literature, films, and music, drawing from biblical and theological insights.
